2. What this website is

AK Flags (“Flags of the World”) is a publicly accessible informational website that displays country flags and offers an interactive flag quiz. The website does not require registration, does not create user accounts, and does not accept uploads or submissions from visitors.

3. What data we process

3.1 Server logs (automatic)

Like every web server, our hosting infrastructure temporarily records technical access logs. These may include:

  • IP address (anonymised where possible)
  • Date and time of the request
  • Requested URL / path
  • HTTP status code
  • Browser type and version (User-Agent header)
  • Referrer URL (if sent by your browser)

These logs are used exclusively for operational security, error diagnosis, and defence against abuse. They are not used for analytics, profiling, or marketing.

3.2 Google Fonts

This website loads the “Inter” typeface from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com, fonts.gstatic.com). When your browser fetches these font files, Google receives your IP address and browser metadata. Google’s privacy policy applies to that request: policies.google.com/privacy.

You can avoid this by configuring your browser to block requests to fonts.googleapis.com — the website will fall back to a system font.

3.3 What we do NOT collect

  • No user accounts or registration
  • No names, addresses, or personal details
  • No payment information
  • No uploaded files
  • No comments or user-generated content
  • No newsletter or email subscriptions

6. Retention period

Server logs are retained for a maximum of 30 days and then automatically deleted. No permanent storage of personal data takes place.

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your data to third parties. The following service providers are involved in operating the website and may process data on our behalf:

  • Hosting provider: Hetzner Online GmbH (Germany) — server infrastructure and network
  • Font provider: Google LLC (USA) — delivery of the Inter typeface (see section 3.2)

8. Cookies

This website does not set any cookies. No session cookies, no tracking cookies, no analytics cookies.

The light/dark theme preference is stored locally in your browser’s localStorage and is never transmitted to the server.

9. Your rights

Under applicable data protection law, you have the right to:
